Species That Save Us

SERIES BRAND IDENTITY / DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT / CROSS-PLATFORM DESIGN
A four-part series for The Washington Post exploring the unexpected animals that help humans survive — from spider silk to horseshoe crab blood. I led design and development across digital and print, building a custom interactive feature with flippable species trading cards, locator maps, and an original illustration system for 50+ species. The series ran in Fall 2025 across wapo.com and in print.
With Katty Huertas (illustrations) and Dino Grandoni (reporting).

DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT / ART DIRECTION CROSS-PLATFORM DESIGN
Designed, developed and art directed a piece about the annual Gallup Poll about the World's happiest countries.
SERIES BRAND IDENTITY / DIGITAL DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
An 8-part climate series exploring the physical limits of the human body under extreme heat — and winner of the 2024 National Institute for Health Care Management Foundation Data-Driven Storytelling Award. As lead designer, I touched every story in the series: building a cohesive brand identity from the ground up, establishing a visual language with reusable components that gave the series a unified presence across eight distinct pieces.
A scone and coffee concept bringing handmade pastries to DC farmers markets. I created the full brand identity from scratch — including hand-drawn illustrations of the window mark and bird logo — with a warmth-meets-whimsy sensibility designed to feel homemade and memorable at a market stand.

Bird Olympics
ILLUSTRATION / DESIGN / WRITING + REPORTING
An original illustrated piece published in The Washington Post during the 2024 Summer Olympics — exploring which birds would actually take gold in events like speed, distance, swimming, and stealth flight. Illustrated in vector for animation, with wing cycle animations by Emma Kumer.
Pitched, researched, designed, illustrated and developed this piece that visually explains different types of animal mimicry found in the wild in the format of a halloween costume contest.
